The Kezar Lake House

From a simple sketch to a home shaped by its surroundings.

Set along the shores of Kezar Lake in Maine, this home began as a simple sketch and evolved into a three-year collaboration with our clients and architect to create their own forever home. Our involvement began long before the first finishes were selected, working closely with the homeowners to envision the property as a whole—from the placement of the house and its relationship to the landscape to the interior layout and the way each space would capture the natural light and extraordinary lake views. From those earliest architectural decisions to the selection of every material, finish and interior detail, we approached the home as one complete composition, balancing the beauty of its surroundings with the rhythms of everyday life. The result is a deeply personal retreat, thoughtfully imagined from the ground up, where architecture and interiors exist in quiet harmony and every space reflects the way our clients envisioned living on the lake.

  • Project Location: Lovell, Maine

  • Project Timeline: 3 years from start to completion

  • Inspiration: Rooted in the timeless character of Maine’s early 1900’s cabins, this home draws on the character of traditional log construction, exposed timbers and chinking, bringing a sense of history and authenticity to a newly built retreat. Our vision was to capture the warmth and simplicity of an old Maine camp while introducing the comforts of modern living.
